@DaninNashville: I don't know on that. I didn't notice a heavy amount of high school coaches at NU's bowl practices, which you sometimes see. But that doesn't mean there weren't a few there. Just might not have seen them.
@JohnB: Well, I take Drew Brown and put him against any kicker and say it's at least a fair fight. But all the other areas slant Tennessee's way statistically. They are 106 spots higher than NU in net punting. They are top 20 in kick returning and punt returning. The interesting dynamic there, of course, is that Riley has taken a heavier role with special teams this month with Bruce Read gone.
@Sam: They are a really tricky injury. Honestly, he was playing at a really low percentage against Iowa, then he tore it further from what I've heard. I know there are some rumors out there that this isn't about the injury, but I've seen the guy up close. He's not full strength. Had Fyfe not hurt his wrist against Maryland, Fyfe probably plays that Iowa game and maybe Armstrong is good for this bowl game, but the football gods said otherwise.
@DaninNashville: Haven't seen Barry since he left the school. I wondered the other day what he's up to. Believe he came out of Antioch if memory serves right? He hasn't been one of those guys who comes back to games a lot, which I understand if he moved back home.
@DaninNashville: I liked Barry. Cool dude. I don't know if he was big on the media, but I don't know if I'd be big on the media either if I was a player so I never hold grudges about that.
OK, guys, I got to do a little writing. Enjoy the game. (I suppose for most, enjoyment depends on how the Huskers show up.) But enjoy the New Year even if you don't like the game.
We're still here, hanging out until kickoff
That's probably the $1 million question, @Buckeye
And if the Blackshirts sell out to contain Dobbs, does that allow the Vols backs to get loose?
That is a hot take of a prediction there, @Blowout.
Is it also in haiku form? If it is, extra points for that.
Tommy, Darlington and Fyfe. And I think the rest are coaches?
Hold on. POB is the gray sweatsuit (looking like a mafioso, ha)
And Riley is to Tommy's left, then Langsdorf.
Far right, no idea. Kinda looks like Parrella, but that doesn't make a lot of sense.
He ain't no pixie, ha. Actually had a caller earlier today ask about Tanner Lee and if he's the real deal. And then the size on both he and POB. I said POB is a good 6-4 (he's listed at 6-4, 230) and I said he's a stocky dude.
Check that, Lee is 6-4, 205
